PROJECT BIKE LIGHT FAIRY
The Bike Light Fairy is a not-for-profit bike light distribution project that I ran during portfolio school to spread bicycle safety and awareness. I built a brand, crowdfunded, got some volunteers on board, and together we gave away over 400 bike lights dressed like this...
HOW IT BEGAN
I built a social media following. Using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and e-mail marketing we reached over 2,000 people.
BUILDING A BRAND
To stand out and keep things fun I worked with an incredible designer, Kristen Coconis to push the fairy theme. Lights came in pink pouches with the hand out below folded into a wallet-friendly size. Also included were materials from our sponsors and a Bike Light Fairy LED button. Volunteers had pink t-shirts with our logos and I put together a full fairy costume with light up bike.
CROWDFUNDING
By tapping into our following we exceeded our goal by 38%. Thanks to the generosity of 43 donors we raised over $1000 in just 10 days.
SUCCESS
Thanks to the efforts of over a dozen volunteers and the success of our brand we were a hit. People flocked to us, took pictures of us, and loved what we were all about.
THE END
...for now.
Until the Bike Light Fairy rides again
remember to use a bike light and
be safe out there.
